Brand new song on Bandcamp to raise money for the DEC Ukraine Appeal
Martyn has released a brand new track on Bandcamp....with all proceeds going to the DEC Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal.
He writes.…
I've had many doubts about wether we should release this song. It’s probably the most contentious lyric I have ever written. But as time moves forward there seems to be no relent to the madness in Ukraine, the heart breaking loss of life, the millions displaced and the horror and despair on the faces of innocents. Children dying with their Mothers whilst brave Fathers train to hold a gun for the first time. And for what? One man seems to have brought this about: maybe thats naive and simplistic, but I see only a veil of evil across the face of so called President Putin. This song is the result of my rage, and is my honest response to all I've seen. I'm well aware that, not that long ago, the UK and the USA invaded a sovereign country on the pre text of a lie. Madeleine Albright, the former US Secretary Of State, when asked about the destruction caused and the death of 500,000 Iraqi children replied "it was a very hard choice, but the price-we think is worth it". So there is little holy ground here. My heart is pacifistic by nature..I abhor violence of any kind, but if I had the means to stop this suffering..? Sometimes only art will articulate the moment we find ourselves in the middle of a contradiction. All monies raised from sales will go straight to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. With love and solidarity for the men, women and children of Ukraine." M xo
