PipeFest 2011 tickets onsale now!

Tickets for the 4th PipeFest event at Lancaster University on Saturday 24th September are now onsale by calling 01524 414043 or online from www.imageacoustic.comEach year the event has built and evolved, and this year is no exception as we will be joined by the amazing actor and singer Tayo Aluko, who is the creator of the critically acclaimed one man show "Call Mr Robeson" and the engaging and emotive singer songwriter Yvonne Lyon, as well as Stewart Henderson returning to co host the event with Martyn.

Here's what you told us about PipeFest 2010......
"A magical event"........"A day that invigorated your faith in the human spirit".........."fabulous"......."Amazing, roll on next year!"......... "It was a blast. I can’t wait for PipeFest 4".........."None of us wanted the day to end"
Tayo Aluko
Tayo Aluko is an award winning actor and baritone singer who has created the one man play "Call Mr Robeson" which is a roller coaster journey through Paul Robeson's remarkable and eventful life, and highlights how his radical activism caused him to be disowned and disremembered, even by the leaders and descendants of the civil rights movement.
Tayo is a fascinating, inspring and an outstandingly talented artist who we are really looking forward to welcoming to the event. He will be performing excerpts from his Paul Robeson show, along with talking with Martyn and Stewart to give an insight into his work as an activist and performer.
Yvonne Lyon
Singer-songwriter Yvonne Lyon is among the best and brightest emerging talent currently from Scotland. Her most recent album, Ashes & Gold combines poignant lyrics with strong, creative melodies, demonstrating a voice that can be both fragile and intense.  As Bob Harris saiys, 'just stunning music' and we know you'll agree!
Yvonne will be playing a solo set in the evening and also taking part in a workshop during the afternoon where all the performers will share their work.
Stewart Henderson
What can we say about poet, broadcaster and writer Stewart Henderson? PipeFest certainly wouldn't be the same without him and he returns this year by popular demand to help host the event with Martyn and share his totally unique view of the world with us.
It will be another packed day with individual sessions by the guests, conversation and discussion, a performers workshop where they will swap stories and share songs (and poems!), the near legendary quiz and of course, the day will be rounded off by a special solo concert by Martyn, which is always unique and the perfect way to end the event.
As ever we will be providing a full range of food and refreshments for the day and once you have booked we will ask you to compete a booking for your food choice and we will do our best to accommodate all dietary requirements. This will be sent to you a little nearer the date of the event. A full bar will also be available throughout the day.
We are again going to make special PipeFest t shirts available for those who come along...and we'll have a brand new design which we will let you know about a little nearer the event once you have booked.
Tickets are £55 for the full day, inclusive of all sessions, lunch, afternoon refreshments, evening meal and drinks (coffee and tea)and are available by calling 01524 414043 or online at www.imageacoustic.com

SPECIAL PRE-PIPEFEST FRIDAY NIGHT GATHERING - Friday 23rd September
In previous years many people have travelled up to Lancaster on Friday to stay overnight and make a weekend of the event, and from this a group of "PipeFesters" are arranging a gathering of like minded folk on Friday evening on campus at Lancaster University.
The event is being hosted by Steve Pledger, a friend of us here at MJ.com who has promoted shows for Martyn in the past and has hosted open mic sessions in his home area. Although not an official MJ event, we are very happy to support Steve with this and think its a great way to start the weekend. It will be a very relaxed affair where you can meet up with others and as part of the evening, they hope to arrange a very informal open mic session, so anyone is welcome to share songs, music and poetry if they would like to.  To find out more about the event, drop a line to Steve Pledger at stevepledger2008@btinternet.com
