sorry..back again
Back again and apologies for the time lapse since the last entry. I’m not sure how many folk read these entries and I’m sure it’s not a huge disappointment if I miss the odd week, but none the less I feel bad. What an undisciplined chap I am. Got back from Canada and it was great to be with the family again, two months was a long time. Had a day to recover then hit the Greenbelt festival, which was very busy.I hosted a new song-writing forum called ‘The Rising’ which included guests like Ricky Ross and Tom Robinson. Anyone who came would have heard a few gems of wisdom on what motivates and how songs start their lives, it seemed a pretty popular venture and I hope it will be continued. Faith Folk and Anarchy reunited to play on the Sunday night and I have to say it was one of the best. It all came together after a brief rehearsal and maybe placed the thought in our heads that we shouldn’t end something that feels so good, maybe in 04? The MST CD was also launched at the Festival, and I spoke many times about their work. It sold well and it feels good to be doing something tangible for the folks their in Brazil. Greenbelt reached its capacity, which is great news as I think it’s an integral part of the spiritual journey of so many that despair of the culture of mainstream faith. Great to see old friends and mentors like John Smith and Jim Wallis there too, as well as healthy and good vibed debate between leaders of all faiths. So, I shall be flying to Vancouver on Thursday to sing at the wedding of Mike MacWilliam. It’s a long way, but it’s a special moment and a promise is a promise. After that I return for some writing and plotting time leading up to dates opening for Chris De Burgh and then my UK tour..cool. Not so cool was the announcement by Ian Duncan Smith in today’s papers that he believes Britain should support the USA if it attacks Iraq. What a moron and I’m being polite. I can see what the new Tory sound bite of ‘being inclusive’ is meant to mean, ‘say yes to anyone’. Lets not advise caution about going to war, let’s not ask if all other avenues have been exhausted, like perhaps lifting sanctions and aiding the people directly so that they can rise up with support against the tyranny in their land. No, lets have war and kill thousands of men, women and, of course, children. Lets say ‘yeh baby’ to Mr Bush. No wonder whales beach themselves.
