The Promise
2011 is about to close its doors and I’m reflecting on another year immersed in the privilege of making music. I’ve been looking back at previous entries and have to admit I needed to remind myself of the complete detail of the journey this year. The new places, the familiar, new friends made for life and to others reconnected. Every gig was a voyage in itself and it’s worth the miles/flights logged to come out the other end and feel that the work is worthwhile and relevant.Thank you to every single one of you that came out to listen and climb aboard. The schedule has left me a little jaded but I’m now fortunate to have a little respite before flying out to the USA at the end of Jan to begin it all again. Earlier today I sat and watched Bruce Springsteen sitting at a piano playing a solo version of a song called ‘The Promise’. Its amazing how you can in the space of a few minutes go from a position of feeling like you need a break from the music to wanting to pick up the guitar straight away and write songs. I’m on it.Hey everyone who is reading this who might be in my audience..thank you for being there and seeing me through another year. Myself and the team around me wish you all a very happy new year. I hope 2012 is a better year for this beautiful planet and all that it faces right now, and my best thoughts are with you as you try to make some sense of it all. Keep going..M x
