Andy Davies with Martyn in Canada

Midnight and Martyn wants refreshment in Macbride. Its a quiet and small town and all that is open is a local petrol station to which we head. Along with the life saving supplies I decide to buy a postcard of Macbride. The woman at the checkout informs me that she doesn't know how much they cost because she has never sold one beforeFollowing a good breakfast we made our way back to Prince George. The mountains that had graced our journey the previous day had been hiddden by clouds that dusted the countryside with snow. Like the model who makes bad clothes look good, so too Canada remains a beautiful country whatever the weather. Martyn and our driver Jim had promised stunning wildlife on the journey but so far we had seen nothing until just a few miles from our destination when we saw about 14 eagles flying overhead. It was a wonderful sight which we were later informed is a portent of major change ahead. We were dropped at King George V School where we were greeted enthusiastically by children and staff alike. Martyn gave his offering of songs, humour and reflection whilst the children responded with songs, enthusiasm and gifts. It was a good school and good to be there although one child went home disappointed as he had been expecting Ricky Martin. After the children had autograph hunted anyone who looked like a visitor to the school we moved on to a newly established family centre in downtown Prince George which seeks to provide a range of child and family centered services. Its an imaginative project which is having much sucess. We met the staff and one or two of the users of the centreThe day ended in the generous company of friends and though tiring, today has been a day for appreciating the beauty and wonder of so much that is around us: for recognising the hard work and commitment of those who seek to bring change and improvement on a practical level to the lives of others and for realising that whilst some of us sing about justice and others seek to impliment it , that both are needed.
