We are on route to Macbride for the first show of this brief Canadian tour. I'm travelling with my life long buddy Andy who has some time off work and has decided to join me on this adventureanaged to stay up till midnight canadian time thanks to an ice hockey game on TV and a hot tub at Mike's folks place where we stay on our first night. The next day (Tuesday 7th) I awake at the 6.00am due to jet lag. It always amazes me that you go without sleep for 26 hours and then only sleep for 6. We go downtown and I have a meeting with a compnay called 'Festival' who are interested in distributing my stuff here. Mac swings it for us to get a tour of the General Motors arena where the Vancouver Canucks played against Montreal last night (the game we watched on TV)After that we take a cable car up Grouse mountain to another land where snow is king and its so bright I need to by a pair of shades to cover my eyes. The view over Vancouver is amazing. We finally catch a flight at 6.10pm to Prince George. Mike is staying in Van but we will hook up with him again in a few days. Canada is huge and I defy anyone who comes here not to be blown away by its grandeur and scale. Its much colder in Prince George and there is snow everywhere. We get to bed around 2So its up early again today to do CBC radio. It covers Northern B.C. so its well worth doing. As I sip water waiting to be interviewed and sing, the news declares a scandle concerning the Mayor of a town called Macbride where I happen to be playing tonight. I smile wryly thinking that I'm going to have fun with the 'The Mayor Of Candor' tonight! We hit the road for Macbride at around 2 having had a tour of Prince George and a late breakfast. It's now 12.30am. The drive to Macbride was spectular as well as bumpyhe gig went well and my take on the Mayor situation went down well! Jim Robertson, whodrove Andy and me up here, opened the show. Macbride is a very rural community, It's almost like we are on a movie set. The people are very appreciative and some travel over 60 miles to be at the gig. Our motel on the edge of town is basic but adequate, we walk to a petrol station in the cold to get some chocolate and goodies. Its a very different world here.Andy will continue the tale of the Pipe tommorow.Martyn
