Cambridge. Day 7 Nigel's Diary.....

Today starts with seeing Big Mike's greatest hits (or Brawls I should say). A compilation video someone has given him of all his fights in the U.K. Ice hockey supeleauge last year! Martyn and Gaynor arrive and off we set. Further up the road we receive a call off Martyn to say he has left his bag with all his clothes outside his home.Too bad he'll have to play in his birthday suit and lower his guitar strap. We arrive at the venue....The Junction in CambridgeNow to give a brief insight into the active role of a sound and lights man.He is there to help and aid an artist and his crew in achieving the best result at that present time.................ENTER Dave. Say no more. He does an impressive sound check of the monitors. "one,two,......can I have a little notch down on 315hz and two notches down on 500hz,a smidge and a thingy on 630hz and a notch up on 3khz .It's impressive, extremely impressive, but does he know what he's doing? The lights man says all he can give us is white light and so He lights the stage up. I feel like I'm about to kick off at an evening match against Man. Utd. it's so bright up there. We started the show as usual. There is another assault on"The Mayor of Candor lied" . It's the hardest song of the tour as it has to be scaled down to suit the ability of Mr.Joseph and Mr.Hopkins.As we come to a close of the second set, I embark on what seems to be have become a ritual during "Cardiff Bay". Each time we start the song, I can only think of my son Nicholas whom I am missing and by the time I get to the 3rd verse, I'm usually bordering on tears.Once again, "Dolphins" and "All this time" conclude the show. Another happy audience. We packed the vehicles and headed off back home. Drizzly rain awaited the journey, but I'm kept company by MIke. We talked quite a bit and got a good insight in to each others characterst's now 7.12 a.m.. .It's getting quite light outside. Maybe the lighting engineer has set up outside my house. Bye for now
