Whitehaven (Martyn)

Up and off again, down the M74 to Carlisle and the lake district. We get off at junction 40 and stop at the place I wrote 'Hang The World', the weather is awful and I do a piece to camera for the 'film' we are makeing, I can hardly stand up in the wind and rain. In fact the spot that i sat and wrote the words a few years earlier is submerged by the swelling river. The gig is in Whitehaven, a long drive again but we eventually arrive after several U turns that I am apparently becoming famous forThe PA arrives late and not without a few problems. We iron most of them out and hit the stage at 8. Its not the easiest of venues to create atmosphere but we get there in the end, the crowd are sweet and I change the set a little to make sure I'm on the case. Dont like things to get too rigid. We leave at midnight and drive home hitting Cardif around 5.am. Mac and Nige speed past at the end as they take a different route, they both have there ams out of the car and look like a giant seagull making there way past us. They dont see the guy in a green robe sitting on top of the car.
