This is fun..
How i love playing shows. Aberdeen and Glasgow so far, have been trying out new stuff and mixing things up a bit. Its funny, i have played thousands of gigs but each night feels new and i`m excited about being out here. Here is some news from the MST I received today, despite a new leader in government who sympathises with their cause, their struggle goes on.. On Sunday night, October 27th, our brother Luiz Pereira Sampaio was shot by a .12 rifle used by Civil Police officer João Nogueira. Luiz and other brothers were waiting for the bus that would take them back to the encampment, after voting, when the City Council President of Iaras started insulting them, and threatened calling the police to throw them out of the town. Minutes later, Iaras Police chief, Dr. Rubens, and the officer Nogueira arrived. Nogueira struck one of the workers with his gun. Luiz Sampaio approached him to ask him to be calm, and he was shot. When Luiz’s wife tried to press charges, the Police chief threatened to throw her in jail if she insisted on doing so. Although the apparent motive for the crime was the election results, the fact is that rural workers, both those from encampments and those who have already been given land, have been persecuted in Iaras since they arrived in the region, in 1995. The local powers — mayor, Civil Police, and large property owners — are constantly intimidating workers by threatening to arrest them, by imprisoning them, and by threatening to kill them
